Temporary Residence Card (TRC)

The Temporary Residence Card (TRC) is a paper issued by immigration or competent agencies of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, which are granted to foreigners who are permitted to reside for a definite term in Vietnam. Foreigners wishing to enter Vietnam for work, business or legal relatives visits are required to apply for a TRC.

Temporary residence cards are valid as visas, ie. foreigners can use temporary residence cards to enter or exit Vietnam without having to apply for a visa.

The duration of the TRC must be suitable for the purpose of temporary residence from 1 to 5 years. Based on many conditions, factors that each person is approved and issued TRC with different terms.

Cases in which a foreigner can obtain a TRC in Vietnam:

Foreigners are members of diplomatic missions, consular offices, representative offices of international organizations of the UN, intergovernmental organizations in Vietnam, or the spouse, child under 18 years of age, housemaid that comes along during his/her term of office. In this case, he/she will be issued with a temporary residence card with symbol NG3.
Foreigners have a visa of type LV1, LV2, ĐT, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LĐ or TT. In these cases, he/she will be issued a TRC with similar symbols in their visas.

A compulsory condition for granting temporary residence card is a valid passport must be at least 13 months from the date of application.
