Vietnam attracts Polish, Swiss, and Czech tourists after visa waiver

Vietnam’s recent decision to temporarily lift visa requirements for citizens of Poland, Switzerland, and Czechia has sparked a notable increase in interest from travelers in these countries, according to data from travel booking platform Agoda.

Between January 1 and June 23, 2025, accommodation searches for trips to Vietnam scheduled between March 1 and December 31 jumped significantly compared to the same timeframe in 2024. Agoda reported that searches surged by 306% from Poland, 155% from Czechia, and 68% from Switzerland.

The visa exemption, which took effect on March 1, allows travelers from these three nations to enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days, provided they are on package tours. This policy brings the total number of countries eligible for visa-free entry to 25.

During the exemption period, the top destinations chosen by visitors from these European markets included Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang.

In response to this growing demand, Vietnam’s Civil Aviation Authority has suggested that local airlines consider opening direct flight routes to Poland, Czechia, and Switzerland.

As part of its broader tourism goals, Vietnam hopes to welcome 22 to 23 million international visitors by the end of 2025. This follows a strong rebound in 2024, when the country received 17.6 million foreign tourists.
