Visa on Arrival

In 2019, the General Statistics Office (GSO) also announced the number of foreign tourists to Viet Nam has reached nearly 14.5 million in the first 10 months of the year 2019, up 13 per cent over the same period last year, indicating that Vietnam has become more attractive as a tourist destination. Vietnam Visa On Arrival on our website is available to help you to make things easier.

Vietnam Visa On Arrival (VOA) is the process to get a Visa Approval Letter through a travel agency in Vietnam prior to departure. Foreign visitors will pick Vietnam Visa up at the Vietnam International Airports upon arrival. Vietnam Visa On Arrival is a legitimate alternative way to obtain a full Vietnam Visa from the Vietnam Embassy. If you are planning to arrive in Vietnam on an international flight, landing at either Ho Chi Minh, Ha Noi, Da Nang, Cam Ranh International airport, Vietnam Visa On Arrival is highly recommended for those traveling to Vietnam by air.

Once issued, this visa is exactly the same as the visa issued by any Vietnamese Embassy/ Consulate, with the same limitations and conditions attached to its use. Valid passport for more than 6 months is the requirement when you apply for Vietnam Visa On Arrival. After foreign visitors fulfill the Application form online and settle payment by using an electronic payment gateway, they will receive the confirmation by Email. The Approval Letter will be sent via Email after 1-2 working days* in normal. In case, you would like to get Vietnam Visa Approval Letter as Urgent or Emergency case, the additional cost will be required. This kind of Visa Processing is only available for some specific nationalities with the time from 4-8 working hours for Urgent Case and 30 minutes to 3 working hours for Emergency Case.
* Processing time depends on the type of visa and your nationality

Foreign visitors just need to print it out and fill out the Entry and Exit Form in advance for saving time. At the Vietnam airports, you will present it together with your valid passport, 2 passport-sized photos, and pay Stamping Fee to the Immigration officer to get your visa stamped. If you do not have photos, you can take a photo at the Vietnam airport which costs about $5/person. We highly recommend that the Stamping fee should be paid in exact cash in USD. Another currency can be used at the airport with a high rate of exchange.

As the whole application process can be completed online, Vietnam Visa On Arrival helps foreign visitors reduce more document processing time than another way. You do not need to send out any documents or taking much time to go to the Vietnam Embassy.

Vietnam visa On Arrival has various types like a visa for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year**

** Visa for 6 months and 1 year just applicable for USA passport holders only

Vietnam E-visa is valid for a maximum of a 1month single entry only. The whole fee for E-visa will be paid online and will not be refunded if the application is refused. You can check this link for the E-visa reference.

A Single Entry Visa allows you to enter and exit Vietnam just once during the visa validity. Once you leave Vietnam, even before the visa’s expiry date, the visa automatically becomes invalid. You are required to apply for a new visa if you want to come back to Vietnam.

A Multiple Entry Visa allows to enter and exit Vietnam multiple times during the visa’s validity. It means that with this kind of visa, you can leave then re-enter the country during the visa’s validity without applying for a new one.

Note for A Multiple Entry Visa on arrival, you need to select the port of arrival for your first arrival to pick up your visa there. After picking up the visa, you can re-enter Vietnam at any ports you want as long as your visa is still valid.

For 6 months and 1-year Tourist Multiple Visa (United States of America passport holders ONLY), the traveler cannot stay in Vietnam for more than 3 months at a time, and you have to leave the country and return for another 3 months of stay.

What should the United States of America do to stay in Vietnam 1 year continuously?

Before arriving in Vietnam, you should make a travel plan detail. If you do need to stay in Vietnam for more than 3 months, you are recommended to apply for Vietnam Business Visa.

For most of the nationality, the traveler can stay in full 30 days with a 1-month visa. The number of days in the Visa Duration will depend on the number of days in the month. (This is for both Tourist and Business Visa)

Though, some nationalities are in the special list of Immigration such as Iraq, Bangladesh, Yemen, etc. which only can apply for a 1-month single-entry tourist visa. The Immigration will base on the traveler’s itinerary to give the visa period with the duration of staying will be ONLY maximum 25 days, so it means that not always the traveler can get full 25 days for staying in Vietnam

With 3 months visa, the traveler can not give the fixed duration of staying exactly 90 days. Because it depends on the number of days in the month, the Immigration will generally provide from 85 to 90 days (This is for both Tourist and Business Visa)

For the United States of America passport holder who can apply for 6 months or 1-year Tourist and Business Visa.

With 6 months and 1-year Tourist Visa, the traveler cannot stay in Vietnam for more than 3 months at a time, and you have to leave the country and return for another 3 months of stay.

Note:

  • For Vietnam Electronic Visa, entering at the applied port is required. If you want to change your entry port after applying for a Vietnam Electronic Visa, you need to apply for another one.
  • You can exit Vietnam at any checkpoint in the chart above.

While Vietnam Visa On Arrival requires no documents for the online procedure, Vietnam Electronic Visa has some documents requirements that applicants need to provide. If you wish to obtain a Vietnam Electronic Visa and your nationality is eligible for it, kindly check the list of required documents below:

  • Passport with at least 6 months validity remaining and having at least 1 blank page
  • A digital passport photo: Looking straight and without glasses

A scan of the informative page of your passport: Full page including portrait photo, personal information and ICAO lines.

These documents need to be clear with visible information and uploaded on the application when applying for Vietnam Electronic Visa at our site.

In order to receive a Vietnam Electronic Visa with correct information, there are also some requirements for your personal information that you need to notice:

  • Personal information: full name, date of birth, gender.
  • Passport details: number, nationality, expiry date.
  • Travel plans: flight number, entry, and exit date.

After receiving the Vietnam Electronic Visa letter via email, you might feel relieved because you do not need to worry about it anymore. All you think about next is packing your stuff and ready for heading the trip to Vietnam. However, there are some documents you should carefully check and prepare for the visa procedure at Vietnam airport upon arrival. This step just takes 5 minutes but it can help you save a lot of time with the Vietnam Immigration Office.

Here is the list of documents:

  • Your Vietnam Electronic Visa letter: you should check carefully and ensure the correctness of all the information in your letter. If there are any differences of information between your Vietnam Electronic Visa letter and your passport, you will get problems with the Vietnam Immigration Office upon arrival. You are advised to print this letter out and bring along during your trip.
  •  Passport with at least 6 months validity from the entry date

When you plan to travel to Vietnam and get a Vietnam visa, it is really necessary to know which type of visa is fit your purpose of entry to avoid any unexpected problems. Usually, there are many types of Vietnam visas categorized in the purpose of entry:

  • Tourist visa (DL)
  • Business visa (DN)
  • Student/Internship visa (DH)
  • Working visa (LD)
  • Diplomatic visa (NG)

Vietnam Electronic Visa is divided into 2 types as the following:

  • Vietnam Electronic Tourist Visa: this type of visa is issued to those who traveling to Vietnam for tourism purpose only or engaging in recreational activities such as going sigh-seeing, having a rest, visiting friends or relatives, taking part in short-term non-work purposes or even short-term studying, no business activities allowed. Tourist visa valid for 1 month with a single entry. So you can just enter Vietnam once. Tourist visas may be extended after your arrival in Vietnam.

  • Vietnam Electronic Business Visa: like tourist visa, Vietnam Electronic Business Visa is for those who enter Vietnam with the working of purpose. It’s usually valid for 1 month, allowing single entry only.

After applying for Vietnam Electronic Visa at our site:

  • You will receive our confirmation via email containing the estimated time of the Electronic Visa letter delivery (3 business days)
  • Once your Vietnam Electronic Visa has been issued, it will be sent to you via email. We also provide some useful information that you should prepare for the visa procedure at Vietnam airport in that email. Please be advised to read it thoroughly.

Upon arrival at the port of entry, you are expected to present your passport, your Electronic Visa letter that printed out, and then you will receive a visa stamp on your passport, indicating that the visitor has been authorized to enter Vietnam. At this step, you do not need to pay for the stamping fee to get a visa sticker as you do with Vietnam Visa on Arrival. Vietnam Electronic Visa has included USD 25 the stamping fee which paid when you apply. Hence, you will spend less time with the Vietnam Immigration Office for the Vietnam Electronic Visa procedure than Vietnam Visa On Arrival at the airport. This is one of the points that makes Vietnam Electronic Visa a bit different from Vietnam Visa On Arrival.

Additional notes:

  • The Vietnam Electronic Visa is the type of Vietnam visa with a maximum duration of stay in Vietnam of less than 30 days and a single-entry. This point is very important that you do not want to miss.
  • The validity period of your Vietnam Electronic Visa begins from the start to end date specified in your approved Electronic Visa letter. You can use it to enter Vietnam on any date within this validity period. Please keep in mind that your Electronic Visa letter will be useless if you enter Vietnam before or after the validity period specified in your Electronic Visa.
  • The Vietnam Electronic Visa holders must present the printed the Electronic Visa and 6 months validity passport at the checkpoint that indicated in the letter. You should print the Electronic Visa letter out for departure and Visa procedure at Vietnam airport. If you do not have a printed letter, you might get into trouble with the Vietnam Immigration Office.

Applying for a visa may be your priority when planning to travel to other countries where your visa exemption is unavailable. Therefore, you must be very happy and relax once your visa is issued. And you should feel the same way when your Vietnam Electronic Visa is granted except for some things you should notice for the visa procedure at Vietnam airport.

  • Step 1: Find the Vietnam Immigration counter after landing. For Vietnam Electronic Visa, you do not need to come to the landing visa counter which is Visa on Arrival for applicants.
  • Step 2: At the Vietnam Immigration counter, you need to present your passport which is valid for at least 6 months and your printed Vietnam Electronic Visa. The officer will check your documents so this step will take a while.
  • Step 3: Receive your passport with a visa stamp on. At this step, you should spare your time to take a look at your visa stamp and check the validity which should be matched with the one on your Electronic visa. If there any error, please report the officer right away.

As you see, the procedure for Vietnam Electronic Visa is very simple and time-saving with only three steps. Unlike Visa on Arrival, you do not need to go through the visa procedure and submit the entry and exit form, your photos at the landing visa counter. But it does not mean that you do nothing to prepare for it. There are some documents need to be well-prepared in order to make the Vietnam Electronic Visa procedure go smoothly.

  • Passport with at least 6 months' validity from your entry date. If your passport is valid for less than 6 months, you need to have your passport renewal and apply for another Vietnam Electronic Visa before entering Vietnam.

Vietnam Electronic Visa is one of the most convenient Vietnam visas that visitors want to obtain, especially those who enter Vietnam at land ports or seaports. In addition, the procedure is very quick as the application generally requires three working days for processing for a Vietnam Electronic Visa. Although applying for the Vietnam Electronic Visa does take longer than its Visa on Arrival counterpart which can be done in one or two days depending on the types of visa, three business days is still one of the advantages of Vietnam Electronic Visa compared to others.

It is probably easiest to just have whoever sold you the voucher to load it onto your phone. But you can do it by yourself, you just need to open up the phone call screen on your cell phone and type *100*{voucher-code}# and press Call.
